Riviera Park unveiled new improvements to accommodate more residents during the summer. The project's goal was to replace the outdated park equipment with new equipment structures and more to continue Gatineau's tradition of a busy summer at Riviera Park.
Not only were there equipment renovations, but the city also unveiled a new skatepark. The unveiling took place on Monday, June 22, with many people in attendance, including Skateboarder Zavier Matthews, who demonstrated the new skatepark.
The other upgraded equipment included an accessible, multi-generational swing, a climbing structure for children aged 5 to 12 and a play table for toddlers.
A total of $374,013 was used to reinforce and upgrade the park and ensure Gatineau citizens can enjoy time with new equipment. This initiative is part of the Master Plan for Recreational, Sports, and Community Infrastructure.
Riviera is one of Gatineau's most used parks as it carries a lot of weight in infrastructure with its community centre (the Gérard-Pezzani community centre), a baseball field, and four tennis courts.
